Nitrogen
It consist 78% in the Earth's atmosphere. Colorless, odorless, tasteless and non-toxic, nitrogen is non-flammable. It is used in many applications due to its inert property. It combines with some reactive metals, as well as oxygen and hydrogen gases at high temperatures and pressures.
Properties of Nitrogen Gas
- The density of nitrogen gas in liquid form at -186 degrees is 0.808 kg/dm3,
- Molecular weight 28.01 g/mol,
- • Atmospheric density is 0 degrees and gaseous at 1 atmosphere pressure and has a density of 1.25 kilograms per cubic meter.
- It starts to boil at -196 C at 1 atmosphere pressure.
- It starts to melt at -210 C at 1 atmosphere pressure.
- Its specific gravity is 0.967.
- When its density in the air increases, it shows a suffocating feature. It is a gas lighter than air.
Usage Areas of Nitrogen Gas
- It is used in ammonia synthesis.
- It is frequently used in the manufacture of light bulbs.
- Cleaning the refinery and pipelines,
- Providing controlled atmospheric pressure values,
- In steel manufacturing,
- In the glass industry,
- For fire extinguishing in coal mines,
- In the food industry, in the packaging of food products,
- In metal cutting (especially laser cutting) and pipe welding.
Seralgaz mainly sells nitrogen in laser cutting machines and pipeline cleaning processes. It can also be used in stainless steel pipe welding to clean the inside of the pipes during welding.
Seralgaz produces 99.99% and 99.999% (high purity) nitrogen gases with quality certificates and sells them to the market.
Supply Forms and Cylinders
Nitrogen gas can be transported with 5 Lt and 600 Lt volumes and 150, 200 and 230 bar filling pressure cylinders and cylinder bundles. If liquid nitrogen is requested, it can be supplied with 200 Lt, 600 Lt and 1000 Lt liquid containers, or in case of high consumption, with fixed tanks.
How to Use, What Should Be Considered During Use?
- Since nitrogen gas is supplied at high pressures, the valves of the cylinders must not be damaged and the cylinders must be fixed.
- In the use of liquid nitrogen, it is mandatory to use cryogenic equipment when opening and closing the valves, hoses and equipment suitable for cryogenic temperatures should be selected.
As Seralgaz, we provide piping installation, engineering and technical support to companies with nitrogen gas consumption.
How is it produced?
In cryogenic air separation plants, by separating the liquefied air in the distillation column into its components on the basis of different boiling points.
It is produced by suction of air in PSA systems and purifying it from oxygen, moisture and other impurities with activated carbons.
