Nitrous oxide, also known as narcosis gas, is a colorless, non-flammable gas with a slightly sweet smell at room temperature. It is used in surgeries due to its anesthetic effect. It is also referred to as "laughing gas" because it has a laughing effect due to its nerve-relaxing and relaxing effect when inhaled in a small amount. It supports combustion like oxygen gas.
When ammonium nitrate is heated sensitively and under control, it decomposes as nitrous oxide and water vapour.
