Argon
As a noble gas, argon makes up 0.93% of the earth's atmosphere. Colorless, odorless, tasteless and non-toxic, argon has no chemical composition.
Can be sold as 2 items. These:
- 99.99% Purity Argon
- 99.999% High Purity Argon
Seralgaz also sells these two argon gases. We can also perform analysis and qualification and issue certificates.
Properties of Argon Gas
- It is heavier than air.
- It is not flammable. However, when the oxygen in the air decreases, its suffocating effects occur.
- The symbol in the element table is expressed as Ar.
- It exists in two different phases as gas and liquid.
- It has a molecular weight of 40 g/mol.
- Liquid density is 1.394 g/liter.
- It starts to boil at -186 degrees.
- It starts to melt at -189.3 degrees.
Usage Areas of Argon Gas
- Aluminum and steel production to create an inert atmosphere and remove impurities.
- Semiconductor manufacturing to create an inert atmosphere and provide heat conduction.
- Production of fluorescent lamps as filling gas.
- As pure gas in stainless steel, aluminum, copper welding.
- By creating a gas mixture with Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide in the welding of all kinds of ferrous materials in gas welding machines.
- As an inert gas atmosphere in fire extinguishing systems and for fire extinguishing purposes,
- It can also be used as high purity gas in analysis machines.
How is it produced?
Atmospheric air is cleaned. It is then cooled under high pressure. Essential substances (oxygen, argon and nitrogen) in the cooled air are decomposed. Cryogenic air separation plants are used to separate argon and other gases. Cryogenic is the name of the process of feeding liquid nitrogen (N2) at a temperature of -196 degrees to the system created for computer-controlled separation. Basically, argon gas is obtained by these processes.
